The Legacy of Beverly Hills’ Most Trusted Furrier

For over seven decades, Edwards-Lowell has set the gold standard in luxury fur craftsmanship, maintenance, and design. Founded in 1940 by Merrill Lowell, our salon has become synonymous with elegance, quality, and personal service. From Hollywood royalty to generations of fashion-conscious clients across Los Angeles, Edwards-Lowell remains a name associated with tradition, precision, and timeless style.

A Furrier Born from Art and Innovation

Merrill Lowell was more than a businessman — he was a visionary. Influenced by the worlds of art, music, and couture, he pioneered groundbreaking design techniques that remain industry standards today. His approach to fur was creative and technical, introducing methods like textured mink in herringbone and houndstooth patterns that had never been seen before.

Each year, Lowell and his team traveled to Paris, Milan, New York, and Leningrad to find design inspiration and source the finest furs — sable, lynx, mink, and more. He attended European fashion shows and built relationships with auction houses in Seattle and New York, ensuring that Edwards-Lowell customers had access to the world’s most exquisite and rare materials.

A Hollywood Clientele Like No Other

As Edwards-Lowell’s reputation grew, so did its client list. Celebrities of the Golden Age turned to the salon for custom garments that matched their status and personal style. Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Lana Turner, Mae West, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sammy Davis were just a few of the legends who wore Lowell’s original designs.

Our legacy extends beyond retail. We’ve long supported the entertainment industry through fur rentals for films, television, and music videos. Notably, our garments were featured on the hit 1980s television show “Dynasty,” providing a rotating wardrobe of luxury furs for the Carringtons and cementing our presence in pop culture history.

Our Modern Mission

Though we honor tradition, Edwards-Lowell continues to evolve. Our approach to service is both personalized and professional. Whether we’re helping a new client restore a vintage fur or working with a stylist on a production, we strive for excellence in every interaction.

We also prioritize sustainability by offering trade-ins, restyling services, and extended lifespan care for garments. Preserving what already exists is central to our philosophy.
